Evidence you can follow.

How Pest Guides chooses sources, explains uncertainty and turns information into practical inspection steps.

A consumer field guide

Pest Guides brings together household, structural, garden and wildlife problems around a practical sequence: observe, identify, choose a response and check the result. The site is independently assembled; it is not a pest-control company, public agency or professional inspection service.

We do not sell treatment bookings, rank companies, publish invented field tests or claim that an online description proves an infestation. The quote worksheet uses the figures you supply.

Primary sources and visible limits

We prefer university extension publications, public-health agencies, regulators and specialist public institutions for consequential claims. Each pest guide identifies its references and the sections they support. Geographic scope is retained because species, seasons, permitted products and wildlife rules vary.

The source-check date on each guide records its editorial check; later additions carry their own dates. It does not mean every source was published then or independently reviewed by an entomologist, clinician, veterinarian or structural engineer. Some authoritative guidance is older; follow its current official page and locally applicable instructions.

AI assisted the research organization, writing and site development. Sources were inspected and claims tied to references, but this edition has not received independent specialist sign-off. Identification that changes a consequential treatment, medical or veterinary concern, protected-wildlife decision or structural assessment needs the appropriate qualified local professional.

Images are evidence with limits

Diagnostic photographs are real, attributed source images. Captions explain what they show and what they cannot prove. Cropped, preserved, immature, engorged or unusually viewed specimens can mislead; no single picture covers every stage or species.

The house illustration is AI-generated and only shows inspection settings. It is not a diagnostic photograph. All image sources, licences and changes are on the credits page.

What the tools do

The finder follows explicit observation routes. It offers candidates, not a probability or image recognition result. The plant explorer starts an inspection; the deeper linked university tools and local plant clinics cover additional hosts, diseases and regional thresholds.

Your notebook is optional browser storage with export. It is not an account or a medical record. The planner adapts precautions to household constraints without inventing a product dose, re-entry time or clearance deadline. Read the privacy details.

When evidence disagrees

Stop before a consequential action when the organism, source guidance or local rule does not fit. Follow the current primary source and seek appropriate local advice. This site does not currently offer a public support inbox or form. Use the linked primary references to verify consequential guidance, and consult the appropriate local service when the evidence conflicts.
